Ritz-Carlton will be opening it’s first ski resort in Europe in 2026 and we couldn’t be more excited. It will be Ritz-Carlton’s second hotel in Switzerland alongside the Ritz-Carlton Hotel de La Paix in Geneva.
Marriott recently signed an agreement with hotelier Mario Julen, a Zermatt-based alpinist, certified IVBV mountain guide, helicopter pilot, and successful hotelier, who will be overseeing the project.
According to Marriott, the Ritz-Carlton Zermatt will be designed by award-winning Paris-based firm AW² led by partner architects Reda Amalou and Stéphanie Ledoux. AW² boast a very impressive list of completed projects, among them the Six Senses Con Dao and Alila Villas in Vietnam.
The hotel will offer unobstructed views of the famous Matterhorn from guestrooms and dining areas. Activities such as a ski-in ski-out access to the slopes, a beautiful spa with a gym and both indoor and outdoor swimming pools are envisioned for the project.
Currently only three images are available of this outstanding hotel, but we will be sure to update this post as soon as more information is available!
