- CHEZ VRONY
A visit to the iconic Chez Vrony restaurant is a must when in Zermatt. Situated at 2100m altitude in Findeln, it offers guests unparalleled views of the even more iconic Matterhorn mountain and a huge selection of tasty lunch and apéro options, using local produce. If you’ve been active on the slopes, taking in the sights on a hike or if you’re just craving a really juicy burger, try the famous Vrony Burger – trust us, you won’t regret it. Chez Vrony also offers an amazing selection of local cheeses, meats and of course, wines from the region.
- BACKSTAGE HOTEL VERNISSAGE
If you’re wondering where to stay while in Zermatt, we can highly recommend the Backstage Hotel Vernissage, located in the centre of the village. With a strong focus on contemporary architecture and design, the hotel builds a unique contrast to many of the more classical chalets that can be found in Zermatt. The signature style of the hotel’s owner – and artist, Heinz Julen is skilfully incorporated in every element of the hotel. All the furnishings are hand-crafted in his studio in Zermatt and the walls showcase his art pieces. If that wasn’t already enough to convince you, the hotel also boasts a luxurious, state-of-the-art spa that should definitely not be missed.
- BRASSERIE UNO
Brasserie Uno is the place to go for a casual fine dining experience in the heart of Zermatt. Indulge in the creative menus presented by two young chefs who are truly mixing up the Zermatt gastro scene. Products are sourced regionally whenever possible, with the occasional trip to nearby Italy to add some Italian goodness to the menu. Open Tuesday through Saturday – just saying, because we don’t want you standing out in the cold on the wrong day
The coolest new restaurant in town, located in one of the oldest buildings in the heart of the village, next to the famous Hotel Monte Rosa. Definitely try their amazing meat dishes, cooked at super high temperatures in a special charcoal oven. You’ll get the atmosphere of an old chalet, interpreted in a modern way with design elements from local architect Heinz Julen. Traditional wood is combined with leather and metal to create a truly unique dining experience. Remember to book a table for dinner!
We’re at a slight loss for words at the sight of the Cervo – it’s just so stunning. The hotel is designed in a modern, alpine style that instantly made us feel right at home. We’re sure you’ll love it too.
The Cervo can easily be found just at the end of the ski slope, so it’s the perfect gathering place for après-ski, with great drinks and a live DJ set. The main restaurant has a large terrace that offers sweeping views of the village and of course – the Matterhorn. Do yourself a favour and order their delicious truffle fries and signature burger.
- EAT CHEESECAKE AT PETITROYAL
The place to go for all lovers of sweet treats in the centre of Zermatt. The desserts are all home-made (be sure to try their cheesecake) and they offer a seemingly endless selection of hot chocolates – and coffee. You’re welcome.
- LE GITAN
Visit Le Gitan for some of the best grilled specialities in town – you can even watch how the meat is prepared on the open fire. Great quality food, accompanied by a great selection of wines.
- BERGRESTAURANT FLUHALP
The Fluhalp mountain restaurant is located on the ski slopes and hiking trails of the Sunnegga-Blauherd-Rothorn area. It can also be reached on foot for those who don’t ski or snowboard. The restaurant boasts a huge terrace with perfect views of the Matterhorn (because there can never be enough photo ops to capture this famous mountain in all its splendour). If you visit in the winter season, you can enjoy live music with a band playing classic rock and pop songs outside. In the summer, the Fluhalp restaurant offers hotel rooms for a truly unique mountain experience.
This hotel is one of the oldest in the region, being only the second hotel built in Zermatt as early as 1853. What used to be a traditional mountain climber accommodation back in the day, has now evolved into a modern, yet comfortable hotel deeply rooted in its mountaineering history. It’s located directly on the slopes, so it’s perfect for your winter getaway. In summer you can marvel at the fields of alpine flowers that spread out around the Riffelhaus and be perfectly in sync with nature. Perhaps the most spectacular feature is the spa and its outdoor hot tub with the perfect view of the Matterhorn.
Enjoy delicious traditional Swiss food at the oldest hotel in Zermatt, the Hotel Monte Rosa. The Whyperstube offers a great variety of fondue and raclette!
