Hidden away at the top of the sleepy town of Crans Montana, the LeCrans Hotel & Spa is embedded in a lucious green forrest with endless views of the Swiss mountains.
The warm chalet decor only rivals the warmth of the heartfelt welcome we received upon arrival. Escorted to our beautiful suite, carefully decorated according to each room’s individual theme, we enjoyed a glass of local red wine on our sweeping terrace. Our first stop? The heated outdoor pool, warm enough even to swim when surrounded by snow. A couple of laps in the pool and our vacation mode kicked in.
Following the outdoor pool, the hotel takes you straight on inside, to the carefully laid out spa area. A jacuzzi, another warm pool and a sauna and steam room await. After a short relaxation session with freshly brewed hot tea (and a quick stop at the amazing gym!), it’s already time for wine tasting followed by an exclusive dinner.
At the wine bar, housing hundreds of exquisite local wines, a personalized wine tasting is compiled by head sommelier, Antoine Lejeune. We try whites, rosés and reds, each with their own compelling story. The tasting is accompanied by a selection of local meats and cheeses, each incomparable in its flavor. It’s easy to forget that a five course, Michelin awarded meal awaits us.
Making our way to a beautifully set table, we have no idea of the treats that the chef of the Restaurant Mont Blanc has in store for us. All through the meal, we were completely blown away by the service, quality of the food and overall vibe in the restaurant. We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves…
Completely satisfied – and slightly tipsy from all the good wine! – it’s time for bed. We wake up the next day, ready for the adventures that the LeCrans concierge carefully picked out for us. A quick stop at breakfast – only à la carte, as not to waste food – and then we’re off! At Écurie de Panwall, the most beautiful horses await us. We take them on a ride through the forrest nearby and enjoy the calm of our surroundings. We only hear birds and the sounds of the horses hooves as they gently choose their path along the trails of the forrest.
Back in our room, we take a well deserved hot shower (the shower has multiple jets from all sides that felt like a jacuzzi and shower in one!), and relax on our beautiful private terrace with sweeping views of the snow-covered mountain tops. Enjoying the sun that shines on our room pretty much all day, we order a cup of hot chocolate and breathe in the crisp mountain air. It’s the perfect spot to connect with ourselves, away from mobile phones and laptops.
Our next adventure? A stroll through the small town of Crans Monata. We’re astonished by the amount of amazing boutiques and selection of brands, mixed with quaint bakeries and local specialty shops – and by the people we meet along the way. We stop for an afternoon coffee and tarte au chocolat at a local bakery and return to the hotel absolutely in love, refreshed and energized.
Thank you LeCrans and your amazing staff – we can’t wait to come back and explore this magical place in the snowy Winter landscape…
